- Classified as a skin sensitiser (H317: may cause an allergic skin reaction). Wear protective gloves; BPW’s safety data sheet recommends nitrile (NBR) gloves.
- Safety glasses (EN 166) are recommended during refilling.
- Not classified as dangerous goods for road, sea or air transport.
- Water hazard class WGK 1 (slightly water-endangering). Dispose of used grease under waste code 12 01 12*.

Work the grease into the space between the tapered rollers and the races, and apply the rest to the outer race of the hub. The outer bearing is filled as the grease-filled hub cap is screwed on.

What is BPW ECO-Li 91 grease used for?
BPW ECO-Li 91 is BPW’s special longlife roller bearing grease for BPW trailer axles. BPW specifies it for wheel hub bearings, steering knuckle bearings, steering rod ends, brake camshaft bearings and slack adjusters. Astro Global Solutions supplies it to fleets and workshops across Saudi Arabia.
What type of grease is ECO-Li 91, and what is its NLGI grade?
It is a lithium-thickened grease on a refined mineral-oil base, with a consistency of NLGI 2–3. The published operating range is –30 °C to +150 °C. It is blue.
Is BPW ECO-Li 91 the same as ECO-Li Plus?
No. ECO-Li Plus is BPW’s newer lithium-complex grease, and BPW now recommends it for its current hub units. Check your axle’s BPW maintenance manual to confirm which grease applies. We can help identify the right one for your fleet.
Can I mix ECO-Li 91 with other greases?
BPW advises against mixing lubricants in wheel-end bearings, slack adjusters or bushes. When changing grease, clean the old grease out of the hub and bearings completely first.
Can ECO-Li 91 be used in a central lubrication system?
Yes, if the system is a high-pressure type that can feed grease of consistency class 2–3. BPW permits this for its agricultural trailer axles. BPW does not permit liquid lubricants on these grease points.
How much ECO-Li 91 grease does a wheel hub bearing need?
It depends on the hub. BPW’s guide for conventional hubs ranges from 40 g (inner bearing, GS 5506) to 320 g (outer bearing, GS 12008/12010). See the table above, and follow your axle’s maintenance manual.
Is BPW ECO-Li 91 hazardous to ship to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam?
No. BPW’s safety data sheet classifies it as non-dangerous goods for road, sea and air transport. It is, however, a skin sensitiser, so handlers should wear nitrile gloves.

DOWSIL 3145 RTV bonds only to clean, oil-free surfaces, and Dow recommends thorough cleaning and degreasing before every application. Wipe surfaces with WypAll X80 Heavy-Duty Cloths and a suitable solvent such as naphtha, mineral spirits or MEK, then finish with a light acetone or IPA wipe. Wear nitrile gloves such as the Ansell TouchNTuff 92-600 when handling the adhesive and prepared parts, so skin oils don’t contaminate the bonding surfaces.
